Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the process for the Draft Law concerning the International Financial Centre (IFC), or Pusat Finansial Internasional Indonesia (PFII), will be accelerated so it can be presented at the DPR plenary session on 21 July. Purbaya hopes the PFII Bill can be enacted as quickly as possible this month and that President Prabowo Subianto can present this law during the State Address in August. “We hope this PFII Bill can be completed this month (July 2026), and hope it can become law this month. In August, we hope the President can read about the PFII in the State Address,” Purbaya said when met by journalists at the DPR RI building, Thursday (2/7/2026). With the hope that the law related to the PFII will be passed in July 2026 and can be read out in the State Address in August, Purbaya also hopes that the PFII can be operational starting from the end of 2026. “I hope by the end of 2026 the PFII can be running,” said Purbaya. The presence of the bill is the implementation of the mandate of Article 248A of Law Number 4 of 2026, concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK). Purbaya stated that the establishment of the PFII is part of the government’s efforts to realise a national economy that is stronger, more inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive as mandated in the Asta Cita programme. This policy is also an implementation of the national development goals as stated in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, namely to realise welfare and prosperity for all Indonesian people. “The establishment of the PFII is intended to increase Indonesia’s competitiveness as an international financial centre. The PFII is expected to be a catalyst for deepening the national financial sector, developing financial service innovation, increasing investment, facilitating financing for priority sectors and national strategic projects, sustainable financing, and strengthening the financial sector’s contribution to Indonesia’s economic growth,” said the Minister of Finance when delivering the government’s statement in a meeting with Commission XI of the DPR RI in Jakarta, Thursday (2/7).
