JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) has stated that it will comply with government regulations regarding the protection of online transportation workers, including the new provisions signed by President Prabowo Subianto.

The provisions concern the reduction of the online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver commission rate from 20% to 8%, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers.

“GoTo always complies with government regulations, including the directives conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto regarding the protection of online transportation workers, as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026,” said GoTo CEO Hans Patuwo in an official statement received by Kompas.com on Friday (1/4/2026).

“Currently, we will conduct a review to understand the details, implications, and necessary adjustments in accordance with the regulation,” he said.

He added that GoTo will continue to coordinate with the government and relevant stakeholders regarding regulations in the online transportation sector.

“We will continue to coordinate with the government and all stakeholders so that GoTo/Gojek can continue to provide sustainable benefits to the entire community, especially Gojek driver partners and customers,” he stated.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto, during the 2026 International Labour Day celebration, announced that the ojol driver commission rate would be reduced to 8%.

The issuance of Perpres 27/2026 regulating these provisions was described as one of the gifts for workers on the 2026 International Workers’ Day commemoration.

“The income distribution was previously 80% for drivers, now it becomes at least 92% for drivers,” said Prabowo at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026).

On that occasion, he also ordered that ojol drivers must receive several safety nets, such as work accident insurance.

“They must be provided with work accident insurance, will be given BPJS Kesehatan, health insurance,” Prabowo stated.
