GOTO Removed from MSCI Index, Management Points to 'Gocap' Share Price
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Ride-hailing issuer PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) has spoken out after its shares were removed from the MSCI Global Standard Index.
GoTo Head of Corporate Affairs Audrey Petriny said the company had taken note of MSCI’s decision to remove GoTo. She acknowledged that the news was unpleasant for many shareholders.
“This decision is purely technical, following GoTo’s share price being at its lowest level of Rp50 and accompanied by low trading volume, and was not caused by the Company’s performance,” said Audrey, quoted from an official statement on Thursday (13/8/2026).
In terms of performance, GOTO is known to have recorded net profit for two consecutive quarters, with net profit reaching Rp252 billion and net revenue of Rp5.7 trillion. Adjusted Group EBITDA also increased, surpassing the Rp1 trillion mark for the first time in Q2 2026.
The Company also stated that it remains on track with its annual performance targets, with adjusted Group EBITDA of Rp3.2–3.4 trillion.
“Index review decisions are made periodically and we will continue to maintain an active dialogue with MSCI. Meanwhile, we will remain focused on managing the business to create added value for all shareholders,” she said.
Previously, Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) officially announced the results of the August 2026 Index Review. A number of Indonesian stocks again experienced changes in their positions in the MSCI Global Standard Indexes and MSCI Global Small Cap Indexes.
In this review, no Indonesian stocks were added to the MSCI Global Standard Indexes. Conversely, two stocks were removed, namely PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) and PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk (CPIN).
Following the announcement, strong selling pressure in the domestic stock market returned, with the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) falling back into the red, correcting 1.18% to 6,298.77 at 10:00 WIB.
At the start of trading, the IHSG opened at 6,388.23. The index briefly strengthened slightly to reach a daily high of 6,390.33 before reversing direction and coming under continued pressure.
From the opening level, the IHSG had fallen by around 89.46 points, or about 1.40%. The decline deepened until the index touched a daily low of 6,293.50.
However, foreign buying was still recorded as larger than selling, with selling at Rp4.3 trillion while foreign investor purchases amounted to Rp4.8 trillion.
