Jakarta — PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) has collaborated with Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to facilitate Gojek driver partners and their families with free mudik travel through the GoMudik programme.

The programme forms part of a collective effort to support safe and planned mudik travel whilst aligning with the government’s annual agenda to reduce traffic congestion during the Lebaran period.

GoTo Chief Executive Hans Patuwo stated that the Idul Fitri moment represents the most eagerly anticipated time for many people to return to their hometowns and reunite with family. “We understand that Idul Fitri is the most awaited time to return home and gather with loved ones. Hearing directly from driver partners in the field has helped us recognise how crucial this opportunity is for them to go home and be with their families,” Patuwo said.

GoTo has arranged five mudik and return journey destinations for driver partners and their families. Participants will depart from Jakarta’s Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal, heading to cities in West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Sumatra, including Kuningan, Semarang, Surabaya, Lampung, and Palembang. The company has also arranged buses at five return departure points in the same destination areas.

Patuwo noted that mudik travel typically requires various preparations and additional expenses, whilst high ticket demand during the mudik season often poses a challenge for driver partners. “We are grateful to collaborate with the Ministry of Transportation in providing free mudik travel for driver partners. Through GoMudik, we wish to support driver partners so they can reunite with their families in peace, safety, and comfort. This programme represents our commitment to continue supporting the welfare of driver partners and their families,” he said.

Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordination Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) appreciated GoTo’s contribution in facilitating safe transport modes for driver partners during this year’s mudik season. “Concrete steps such as GoMudik demonstrate how synergy between government and the private sector can help expand access to safer, more comfortable, and affordable mobility for society, whilst strengthening inter-regional connectivity during the Lebaran homecoming momentum,” Agus said.

According to him, this collaboration is important to support more orderly, documented, and integrated passenger flows.

The programme aligns with the Ministry of Transportation’s strategic measures in managing passenger flows more systematically. Bus passenger numbers have increased by approximately 9 per cent on the fifth day before Lebaran, according to data from the Ministry of Transportation’s 2025 Integrated Lebaran Transport Central Command Post.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that his ministry welcomes the GoMudik initiative, which supports mobility management during the Lebaran holiday period. “We welcome the GoMudik initiative, which aligns with the Ministry of Transportation’s efforts to mobilise safer and more organised passenger flows during the Lebaran holiday season. Through well-documented management of departure and arrival points, this programme also helps reduce congestion from independent travel whilst supporting a more orderly mobility system,” Dudy said.

As part of the programme, GoTo is distributing GoFood vouchers to participating driver partners to explore local cuisine in destination cities, whilst promoting the growth of local food MSMEs.

The GoMudik programme complements various GoTo initiatives supporting partner welfare through the “GoTo Charity for the Nation” programme. Beyond distributing Hari Raya bonuses, the company also provides access to free social protection through BPJS Health and BPJS Employment since December 2025.
