Jakarta — CNBC Indonesia: GoTo CEO Hans Patuwo was reported to have met Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the Cabinet Secretariat on Friday night (22 May 2026). The meeting discussed steps to improve welfare for online motorcycle taxi drivers amid the development of the digital transport ecosystem. The meeting was disclosed via an official Instagram post by the Cabinet Secretariat on Saturday (23 May 2026). The post stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and business players to enhance drivers’ welfare. ‘With strong collaboration, welfare increases,’ the post stated. In the meeting, Hans Patuwo, in his capacity as GoTo CEO, outlined several inputs related to the conditions of the driver‑partner ecosystem. He noted that there are currently around 800,000 to 1 million active drivers across Indonesia. Since operations began, the total number of drivers who have ever joined reached around 3 million, including those still active, part‑time, and those no longer active. Additionally, GoTo conveyed its commitment to supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s policy to raise driver earnings. One of the plans discussed is to increase the driver‑income share from around 80% to 92% of each transaction. The government underscored that policy discussions remain ongoing with industry players to find a fair point. The focus is on safeguarding drivers’ welfare without compromising the sustainability of the app‑based platforms. ‘The President emphasised that increasing online drivers’ welfare must go hand in hand with a fair and sustainable business model, where the apps continue to earn profits fairly and grow,’ according to the Cabinet Secretariat’s briefing.
