GOTO CEO Meets Cabinet Secretary Teddy to Discuss Ride-Hailing Driver Welfare

CEO of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), Hans Patuwo, met with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the Cabinet Secretariat on Friday evening (22 May 2026) to discuss measures to improve the welfare of ride-hailing drivers amid the growth of the national digital transportation industry.

The information was shared via an official Instagram post by the Cabinet Secretariat on Saturday (23 May 2026), highlighting the importance of government and app company collaboration to create better conditions for driver partners.

During the meeting, Patuwo presented inputs regarding the current state of the driver ecosystem, noting there are currently 800,000 to 1 million active drivers across Indonesia. Since operations began, approximately 3 million drivers have joined, including active, part-time, and inactive ones.

GoTo also committed to supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s policy to increase driver income. One discussed plan is raising drivers’ revenue share from around 80% to 92% per transaction.

The government stated that policy discussions with industry players are ongoing to find a fair balance, focusing on maintaining driver welfare without disrupting platform businesses’ sustainability.

“The President stressed that improving ride-hailing driver welfare must go hand-in-hand with fair and sustainable business operations, where platforms still earn reasonable and growing profits,” according to a Cabinet Secretariat statement.
