GoTo and Grab to Implement 8% Commission for Online Motorcycle Taxis from 1 July

PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) and Grab Indonesia have agreed to lower the platform commission for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers to 8 per cent, effective from 1 July 2026, down from a previously higher rate. The announcement was made by GoTo and Grab representatives after meeting with House Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday. GoTo Deputy President Director Catherine Sutjahyo stated that Gojek Indonesia would implement the 8 per cent commission for its two-wheeled passenger transport service, commonly referred to as GoRide, starting 1 July 2026. She noted that the implementation follows the direction given by President Prabowo Subianto on 1 May 2026 regarding online motorcycle taxi drivers, and affirmed the company’s commitment to improving driver and partner welfare. Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi confirmed that Grab would implement the same 8 per cent commission, also effective 1 July 2026. House Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad remarked that the commission policy had long been awaited by online motorcycle taxi drivers. He explained that discussions had been held with fellow Deputy Speaker Cucun regarding the enforcement of tariffs and commissions for two-wheeled online transport vehicles. Previously, the commission deducted by the platforms was around 20 per cent, meaning drivers received only 80 per cent of the transport service fee. Under the new 8 per cent policy, drivers will receive 92 per cent of the two-wheeled transport service fee. Cucun confirmed that the 8 per cent commission and 92 per cent driver share would take effect from 1 July 2026.
