GoTo and Grab Respond After Prabowo Approves 8% Platform Cut for Ride-Hailing
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Two online motorcycle taxi service providers, GoTo and Grab Indonesia, have responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to set a maximum commission for ride-hailing platforms at 8%.
President Director of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), Hans Patuwo, stated that the company always complies with government regulations, including the guidance provided by President Prabowo Subianto on protecting online transport workers, as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026.
“Currently, we will conduct a review to understand the details, implications, and necessary adjustments in accordance with the regulation,” Hans explained in an official statement on Friday (1/5/2026).
Going forward, GoTo will continue to coordinate with the government and all stakeholders so that GoTo/Gojek can continue to provide sustainable benefits to all of society, especially Gojek driver partners and customers.
In agreement, Grab Indonesia’s Chief Executive Officer, Neneng Goenadi, stated that the company respects the guidance delivered by President Prabowo Subianto in his Labour Day speech today.
Currently, Grab Indonesia is awaiting the official issuance of the Presidential Regulation so that it can be reviewed and studied in more detail.
“The proposed commission structure represents a fundamental change to how digital platforms function as marketplaces. We will collaborate with the government and relevant stakeholders to implement these changes, ensuring that the policy achieves its goals in protecting Driver Partners while maintaining affordability for consumers and the sustainability of the industry,” Neneng said.
It is known that President Prabowo Subianto has signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers. One key point in the policy is the revenue sharing between platforms and drivers.
“I have signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers. As I mentioned earlier, they must be provided with work accident guarantees, BPJS Health, and health insurance,” Prabowo stated.
“Also, as mentioned, the revenue sharing, which was previously 80% for drivers, now becomes a minimum of 92% for drivers,” continued the Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party.
Prabowo also revealed that he has signed Presidential Regulation No. 25 of 2026 on the Ratification of ILO Convention No. 188 to ensure protection and welfare for fishing vessel crew.
