GoSend Launches 'Package Receipt Code' Feature to Reduce Risk of Wrong Recipient
GoSend, Gojek’s on-demand logistics service and part of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (BEI: GOTO or the Company), has launched the ‘Package Receipt Code’ feature to strengthen security in parcel deliveries. This feature establishes a new standard for instant delivery security, especially when sending valuable items such as important documents or electronics, by helping to ensure that parcels are handed over only to the correct recipient.
The ‘Package Receipt Code’ feature is optional, 100 per cent free, and can be activated as needed. It complements the existing insurance option, which provides protection up to Rp 50 million, as well as other previously available security features such as live-tracking.
By activating the ‘Package Receipt Code’ feature on the GoSend service, users will receive a one-time security code consisting of four digits that must be shown to the driver partner when the parcel is delivered to the recipient. The recipient or the sender must immediately inform the four-digit code to the driver partner once the parcel has been received so that the delivery process can be completed.
Head of Logistics at Gojek, Sohan Vaswani, explained that the package receipt code feature represents a strategic step by GoSend to strengthen user trust amid the increasing demand for fast deliveries. Effectively, this feature reduces the risk of delivery to the wrong recipient, which is one of the biggest concerns for users of delivery services.
“More and more people are relying on instant delivery services to support their daily activities, from household needs, business, work, to personal requirements. Instant delivery offers speed and security through its practical process, delivered directly from sender to recipient. Deliveries are also carried out by verified driver partners and protected by insurance to minimise potential risks. Going further, GoSend introduces the Package Receipt Code innovation as extra protection to help ensure the delivery process is even safer until the parcel is received,” Sohan stated.
Meanwhile, telecommunications and cybersecurity expert as well as Executive Director of the ICT Institute, Heru Sutadi, assessed that one-time password (OTP)-based verification systems could become an important foundation for the future of the instant delivery ecosystem. “In the fast-paced delivery industry, consumers demand not only speed but also security and certainty that parcels reach the correct recipient. The implementation of the OTP-based Package Receipt Code is highly relevant to address dynamic operational challenges in the field and has the potential to become an ideal practice and new standard, especially for high-value or sensitive deliveries. Moreover, OTP-based codes are already familiar to the public for other security needs, making their adoption easier,” he said.
