Gorontalo (ANTARA News) - Gorontalo province is expected to host the World Maize Conference (WMC) in October 2011 where exporters and importers will discuss maize development and exchange expertise, Gorontalo Deputy Governor Tony Uloli said.
"Maize producing and importing countries will meet in the conference to discuss maize development and exchange technology and research results about the commodity," the deputy governor said.
Gorontalo has been selected to host the conference due to its success in developing maize over the last nine years. "With this conference, Gorontalo which has chosen maize as its branding is expected to gain more progress and meet the world market," Tony said.
He believed that the WWC would promote Gorontalo as one of the biggest maize producing province in Indonesia.
