Gorontalo - The Traffic Directorate of Gorontalo Regional Police (Polda) has invited the community in Gorontalo Province to fill Ramadan with beneficial activities.

The Director of Traffic at Gorontalo Regional Police, Senior Police Commissioner Lukman Cahyono, stated on Saturday in Gorontalo that Ramadan is a noble opportunity for Muslims and carries significant benefits, particularly in training oneself to avoid negative influences.

“Ramadan should be utilised by the community, especially Muslims, to engage in positive activities,” he said.

As an institution responsible for maintaining security, public order, and smooth traffic flow, the Traffic Directorate will continue to provide excellent service to the public, particularly in maintaining conducive road conditions. To fulfil this mission, Cahyono instructed his personnel to conduct routine patrols at specific times.

The patrols will take place after dawn prayers, in the evening before breaking the fast, and after night prayers (tarawih), continuing into the early morning hours. Beyond patrols, the directorate will also provide security and escort for religious activities throughout Ramadan to ensure events proceed smoothly and safely.

Additional efforts include patrols to prevent and take action against illegal street racing by youth groups, a widespread complaint from road users and residents disturbed by the noise. In response, traffic police will regularly conduct raids, including enforcement against vehicles using excessively loud exhausts.

To prevent negative activities that could disturb security and order, the community, especially parents, are requested to actively monitor children to ensure they do not engage in harmful behaviour. “The holy month of Ramadan is an opportunity for Muslims to increase their devotional practices, so I urge the people of Gorontalo to fill this special moment with positive things to avoid negative influences,” Cahyono added.
