Gorontalo Named Best Province for Inflation Control in Sulawesi
Gorontalo province has achieved first place in the Inflation Control category at the provincial level during the 2026 Regional Sulawesi Local Government Achievement Awards, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The award was presented directly to Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail at the Hotel Claro in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on Friday (29/5/2026).
The Inflation Control category assesses a local government’s ability to maintain price stability and public purchasing power. The evaluation encompasses inflation control performance, reporting quality, budgetary support, and the effectiveness of various implemented programmes.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that the award serves as government recognition for regions demonstrating strong performance across various development indicators, including inflation control. According to Tito, inflation control is a priority indicator for the government due to its direct impact on price stability and the community’s purchasing power.
In addition to inflation control, awards were also presented for achievements in unemployment reduction, poverty alleviation, stunting reduction, and regional creative financing. The awards programme is part of a fiscal incentive scheme provided to high-performing regions, with the government allocating approximately Rp 1 trillion as appreciation for the winners.
The Sulawesi region marks the fourth area to undergo the 2026 Local Government Achievement Awards series, following events in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and West Nusa Tenggara. The awards series will continue across several other regions until November 2026. Tito expressed hope that these accolades would encourage local governments to further strengthen inflation control efforts to safeguard public welfare.
