Gorontalo Governor targets 3,000 livestock artificial inseminations by 2026
Governor Gusnar Ismail of Gorontalo aims to carry out artificial insemination on approximately 3,000 livestock by 2026 to boost cattle population and local farmers’ income in the region.
‘This artificial insemination programme aligns with the provincial government’s efforts to develop the livestock sector in Gorontalo,’ Gusnar said in Gorontalo on Monday.
He explained that in the previous fiscal year, the Gorontalo Provincial Government provided 1,973 cattle as aid to farmers, which was well-received by the community.
However, he noted that budget efficiency measures led the government to adjust the programme by focusing more on artificial insemination.
‘This year, we will perform artificial insemination on around 3,000 livestock. We aim for at least 2,000 to be successful,’ he said.
According to Gusnar, the programme’s success is expected to increase the cattle population in Gorontalo Province while improving livestock quality through sustained development.
‘We will provide proper care to ensure the animals’ weight and health are maintained,’ he added.
He further stated that the programme is also intended to boost local farmers’ income and strengthen the community livestock sector in Gorontalo.
Therefore, Gusnar urged the public not to hesitate in raising cattle and to report to officials immediately if they require artificial insemination services.
‘Our officers are widely available on the ground. This is all done by the government to help local farmers improve,’ Gusnar said.
