Gorontalo Governor: Eid al-Fitr Momentum Strengthens Community Ties
Gorontalo - Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail stated that the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 strengthens silaturahim between leaders and the community as well as among residents. “There are three attitudes that we must maintain outside of Ramadan, namely the fear of Allah SWT, paying attention to the rights of others, and controlling emotions, forgiving each other, and establishing silaturahim,” said the Governor, quoting the Eid al-Fitr sermon by Ustadz Al Jufri. The Governor was accompanied by the Chair of the PKK Mobilisation Team, Nani Ismail Mokodongan. “We are touring the districts and cities in the Lebaran moment, performing prayers together with the community to bring silaturahim closer throughout Gorontalo Province,” he said. Since 06:00 WITA, Muslims began arriving and filling the Masjid Agung Baiturrahman Limboto. Acting as imam was the Qadi of Gorontalo Regency, while the khatib was Habib Salim bin Abdurrahman Al Jufri. Attending from the Forkopimda elements at the Eid al-Fitr prayer were Gorontalo Police Chief Inspector General Widodo and Provincial DPRD Chairman Idrus MT Mopili. Meanwhile, from the Gorontalo Regency Government, Regent Sofyan Puhi attended with his staff. After the Eid al-Fitr prayer, Governor Gusnar Ismail exchanged apologies and handshakes with the congregation. “Alhamdulillah, we were able to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer with clear weather, the area safe and conducive, so the prayer went smoothly,” he said. The Governor also appreciated the support of all Forkopimda in realising a safe and conducive situation throughout the month of Ramadan, including the celebration of the ‘Tumbilotohe’ lamp-lighting tradition, the takbiran atmosphere up to the Eid al-Fitr prayer.
