Gorontalo Community to Hold Joint Prayers for the Late Rahmat Gobel

The community of Gorontalo will hold joint prayers, including the recitation of Surah Yasin, zikir, and Quranic studies, to commemorate the late Rahmat Gobel, who passed away in Jakarta. Marten Taha, Chairman of the NasDem Party Advisory Council in Gorontalo, stated that the community feels a profound sense of loss over the passing of the national figure from Gorontalo, who was known for his significant attention to the region’s development.

“As residents of Gorontalo Province, we feel a deep loss and profound sorrow over the passing of Mr. Dr. Haji Rahmat Gobel,” Marten said. He explained that while the family had initially considered bringing the body back to Gorontalo, the final decision was for burial at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta. Marten noted that the late Rahmat Gobel was a recipient of the Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana honour, entitling him to burial at the site.

Marten added that the body would lie in state at the DPR/MPR Building before the burial procession at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, scheduled after Friday prayers. Meanwhile, the community in Gorontalo will gather each night at the traditional house where the late Gobel usually stayed to hold prayers. Marten described his passing as a great loss, emphasizing Gobel’s consistent fight for the development and welfare of the people of Gorontalo.
