GoPay Error Persists for 4 Hours, Management Assures User Balances Are Safe

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The digital wallet service GoPay experienced a disruption on Tuesday (28/7/2026). Many users complained of difficulties when trying to make transactions, whether topping up balances, making payments, or transferring funds to other users.

On the social media platform X, the keyword ‘GoPay’ entered the trending topics list. Several users reported being unable to access GoPay when attempting to use GoRide or GoCar services.

On the Downdetector service, reports of disruptions to the Gojek application, which is generally linked to GoPay services, saw a sharp increase around 12:00 noon. Disruption reports continue to come in.

‘GoPay error has been going on for 4 hours,’ wrote one netizen reporting the disruption to Downdetector.

As many as 96% reported disruptions to the mobile application, while 2% reported issues with the website. The remaining 2% reported problems logging into the service.

‘[Gojek] only allows cash as a payment method. I just want to go home from school,’ said another netizen.

GoPay’s management acknowledged a technical glitch impacting the user experience on the application.

‘Our internal team is working intensively to restore services as quickly as possible,’ said Audrey Petriny, Head of Corporate Affairs at GoPay, in her statement.

‘We ensure that all user balances and data remain safe,’ she added.

Furthermore, users are urged to contact only GoPay’s official customer service channels, including via [email protected].

She also urged users to always be cautious by not sharing OTPs, PINs, or personal data for any reason, as GoPay never requests such data from customers.
