Google's Gemini App Surpasses One Billion Users

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Gemini has become one of the company’s fastest-growing products, with its application recently surpassing one billion monthly active users. This milestone makes Gemini the 14th Google product to reach the one billion user mark. The growth indicates that Gemini is keeping pace with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which also reached one billion monthly active users in June 2026. Notably, the new user figures for Gemini are purely from its standalone application and do not include other integrations. Gemini is available across Google Search, Workspace, Android, and its dedicated app. This achievement adds to Google’s success with its AI Mode in Search, which has also garnered over one billion monthly active users globally. Google continues to develop Gemini, consistently launching new models and features such as Gemini 3.5 Flash, designed to enhance coding and autonomous AI agent tasks. The company noted that 63 percent of Gemini users prefer to interact with the AI assistant using voice features. Additionally, the AI generates more than 150 million images daily. Gemini’s growth extends beyond Google’s own products, with the company reporting over 100 million active users on iOS. This milestone follows the announcement of second-quarter 2026 earnings, where the company celebrated surpassing 950 million monthly users, with daily active users tripling year-over-year.
