Google uses Gemini to curb spread of misleading ads, removes 191.9 million ads
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Technology company Google has announced that its utilisation of Gemini, its generative artificial intelligence, has helped the digital platform to suppress the circulation of misleading advertisements that violate policies. In more detail, the Google 2025 Ads Safety Report states that in Indonesia, 191.9 million misleading ads were removed and 385,000 advertiser accounts were suspended. “We have long used advanced AI to identify and stop scammers, and Gemini takes those efforts much further. Our models analyse hundreds of billions of signals—including account age, behavioural cues, and campaign patterns—to stop threats before they reach users,” said Google’s VP & General Manager for Ads Privacy and Safety, Keerat Sharma, in his statement on Friday. Unlike previous keyword-based tracking systems, Google’s latest AI models better understand the intent of an advertisement. The use of Gemini to counter misleading ads has enabled Google to successfully block or remove more than 8.3 billion ads globally in 2025. Additionally, the company suspended 24.8 million accounts. This includes 602 million ads and 4 million accounts related to scams. “Gemini also enables us to process user feedback more efficiently, which helps our teams take action on four times more user reports in 2025 compared to the previous year,” said Keerat. With these achievements, it means that although some misleading ads still appear, their handling does not take long and prevents more victims from their existence.
