Google Search Overhauled, Many Unaware of Complete Transformation

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Google has overhauled its Search interface after more than 25 years, now prioritising artificial intelligence.

The simple search box is gone, replaced by a new design called the Intelligent Search Box.

The Search interface now resembles popular chatbots like ChatGPT, with no longer a list of related links but more interactive AI-driven responses.

Searches will mimic conversations with Google, allowing users to upload photos and enter specific keywords.

According to Tech Crunch, the search box accommodates longer, conversational queries, and the system provides AI-powered suggestions to help craft more complex queries.

Google has also introduced tools to send information agents that collect data on behalf of users and enable personalised mini-app creation.

Additionally, users can now ask follow-up questions in AI Mode, eliminating the need to scroll to links on other pages.

While search links are not entirely removed, they are no longer the priority in many searches.

Earlier, Google released AI Overviews, an integrated Search feature generating AI-based summaries, used by over 2.5 billion users monthly.

Conversational search mode, launched last year, has surpassed one billion monthly users, compared to ChatGPT’s 900 million weekly active users.
