Google Introduces 'Video Remix' to Help Users Transform Videos with AI
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Google has introduced a new feature called Video Remix, available in Google Photos, making it easier for users to transform video clips into something more creative and engaging with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).
The feature is supported by the Gemini Omni AI model, which promises to “create anything from any input”, as reported by TechCrunch on Wednesday (8/7) local time.
The release of this feature represents a new way for Google to bring more generative AI capabilities into its applications as it competes with rivals such as Apple, OpenAI and Adobe.
It is Google’s way of helping users carry out AI-powered video editing easily and simply.
Users do not need special software and require only the Google ecosystem on their device to do so.
For those interested in accessing it, Video Remix can be found under the Create tab in Google Photos, after which users can do a variety of things with their videos.
For example, users can request cinematic relighting to brighten a dark video clip, replace a plain background with something else, or even add artistic styles to a video such as watercolour, oil painting or sketch effects.
“Now, with Video Remix in Google Photos, you can turn ordinary videos into share-worthy moments with just a few taps,” Google said in an official blog post.
Video Remix began rolling out today for eligible Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Turkey.
The feature is the latest in a series of AI-based updates introduced to Google Photos.
In addition to Video Remix, the application recently launched new editing tools that allow users to apply fine edits and touch-ups, such as removing blemishes, smoothing skin texture, brightening eyes and whitening teeth.
Google also announced an AI-based feature that turns photos of users’ clothing into a digital wardrobe, where users can generate new outfit ideas and try on clothes virtually.
