Google Introduces Gemini Intelligence on Android
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Google introduced Gemini Intelligence on Android at The Android Show event held on Tuesday (12/5).
Google’s Vice President of Product Management, Mindy Brooks, stated in the Google blog that the Gemini Intelligence feature will be launched gradually.
The feature will begin to be available on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this summer, and will be provided on all Android devices, including watches, glasses, and laptops, by the end of 2026.
Gemini Intelligence can, among other things, help users automate repetitive tasks considered boring so they can focus on more important matters.
“We have spent months refining multi-step automation capabilities on the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 in popular food and online transportation apps to ensure every interaction feels seamless,” said Brooks.
Gemini can, among other things, help users navigate tasks, such as finding a class syllabus in Gmail and then adding the required books to a shopping cart.
The feature can also help users make routine sports class reservations, find needed items and purchase them online via apps, or search for group tour packages based on photos of travel service brochures.
Google emphasises that Gemini only acts on user commands and stops when the task is complete. Users still need to provide final confirmation.
Starting from the end of June, Android devices will receive Gemini’s intelligent web browsing assistant in Chrome, which can help users research, summarise, and compare content across the web.
In addition, Google is introducing a new Gemini Intelligence feature called Rambler. This feature can take key parts of statements made by users and turn them into concise messages.
Gemini Intelligence can also provide custom widgets for users. With “Create My Widget”, users can create widgets according to their needs and desires.
For example, users who enjoy meal prepping can input a request into “Create My Widget” with the command “Suggest three high-protein meal recipes every week.”
After the command is entered, a custom widget will appear according to the prompt, which users can easily access on their device screen.
“Create My Widget” will later be available not only on Android phones with Gemini Intelligence but also on smartwatches with Wear OS.
