Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has once again sent a second summons letter to Google and Meta. The reason is that the two technology giants have not yet fulfilled the call for examination related to compliance with child protection regulations in the digital space, as stipulated in the PP Tunas regulation.

Previously, on Monday (30/3/2026), Komdigi issued the first summons letter. Of the eight platforms, YouTube as well as Facebook, Instagram, and Threads have not yet complied with social media usage restrictions for users under 16 years old in Indonesia, unlike other social media platforms.

Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, stated that the two platforms had previously requested a postponement. They were said to require internal coordination.

“We have received the request for rescheduling, so the obligation to attend the examination summons has not yet been fulfilled,” said Alex in his official statement, quoted on Thursday (2/4/2026).

This second summons is a follow-up step in the enforcement process for non-compliance that cannot be delayed. He said that summonses can be issued a maximum of three times before sanctions are imposed.

“Today we have issued the second summons letter to the relevant parties. In accordance with the provisions, summonses can be conducted up to a maximum of three times before sanctions are imposed. This process is carried out in reference to Article 32 paragraph (2) of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 as well as Article 44 paragraph (2) of the Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 9 of 2026,” he emphasised.

The supervision phase will continue to proceed. Including, he added, further steps if the platforms engage in non-compliance.

Alex emphasised that compliance with child protection regulations is not just an administrative obligation. But also a responsibility regarding the impact on child safety in the digital space.

“Every delay extends the risks faced by children in the digital space. Therefore, we demand concrete and timely compliance from all platforms, including global platforms,” he stated.

Child protection is described as a non-negotiable priority. Alexander hopes for good faith and concrete actions from each platform.

“We hope for good faith and concrete actions from every organiser of electronic systems. A digital space that is safe for children is a shared responsibility, and compliance with regulations is part of that commitment,” said Alexander.
