GOOD START

Kompas

Indonesia made a good start at the World Cup Asian zone qualifier after drubbing lowly Cambodia 8-0 at the Jakarta Senayan stadium yesterday. Asia's best scorer Widodo opened the glut of goals into just one minute of the game.

Widodo who plays for East Java's Petro Kimia, was named Asia's best scorer by the Asian Football Confederation when Indonesia played in the Asian Cup in Dubai last month.

Indonesia's veteran striker Rocky Putiray (right photo above) made a hat trick in yesterday's match while other goals were produced by Ronny Wabya (2) and Ansyari Lubis (2). The victory put Indonesia on top of the preliminary standing in the group which includes Yemen and Uzbekistan.

Manado in North Sulawesi will play host when Indonesia takes on Yemen next Sunday. The game between Indonesia and Uzbekistan will be played in Surabaya on June 1.
