Good News! Part-Time PPPK to Be Converted to Full-Time PPPK
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The government and the House of Representatives (DPR) held a coordination meeting regarding the status conversion of government employees with work agreements (PPPK) in the DPR Leadership Meeting Room, Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (18/8/2026). The coordination meeting, led by Deputy Speaker of the DPR from the Great Indonesia Movement Party faction Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, produced strategic decisions regarding the PPPK status conversion.
“Alhamdulillah, today everyone agreed and shared the understanding that part-time PPPK will be appointed as full-time PPPK, and our brothers and sisters who are teachers with full-time PPPK status will begin the process of being given the opportunity to become civil servants (PNS),” said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi in a press statement.
“Then regarding status, we agreed together that employment status will be transferred to become central government employees,” continued the Great Indonesia Movement Party politician.
According to Prasetyo, resolving issues surrounding PPPK cannot stand alone. Everything must be calculated in detail, from subjects to budgetary capacity.
Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini revealed that currently, PPPK specifically for teachers number 955,245 people. Meanwhile, part-time PPPK working as teachers number 231,246 people.
“And coincidentally, at this time there is a projection for fulfilling national teacher needs of 526,689 formations, which of course consists of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Sekolah Rakyat, and Sekolah Garuda,” said Rini.
For part-time PPPK, she continued, they will be given the opportunity to become full-time PPPK in 2027. Additionally, PPPK teachers will be given the opportunity to participate in civil servant selection which will be held early next year.
“Then we will also open for the projected national teacher needs for 2026, including the needs for Sekolah Rakyat, Integrated Schools, and Sekolah Garuda,” said Rini.
Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that the Ministry of Finance has conducted budget simulations related to PPPK policy this year and in subsequent years.
“So these steps are taken without endangering our fiscal condition, which will continue to be maintained at a 2.4% deficit. So we have calculated everything and this can be done without endangering fiscal sustainability,” said Purbaya.
Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Atip Latipulhayat said the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education will implement the results of the coordination meeting decisions.
“So regarding formations, schedules and mechanisms, these have already been conveyed by the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform. So we follow the formations and schedule that have been agreed upon,” said Atip.
Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar expressed a similar sentiment.
“The same as what was conveyed earlier, so madrasahs are also in accordance with the calculations and simulations that were carried out. So it may be simpler at the Ministry of Religious Affairs because we do not recognise part-time PPPK,” said Nasaruddin.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya revealed that there are two main hopes of regional heads that are often conveyed to the Ministry of Home Affairs. First, fiscal capacity assistance for employee payments and status conversion from part-time to full-time and from full-time to civil servant status.
“Today’s meeting provides clear answers to those two matters. And the Ministry of Home Affairs will go down to oversee, conduct socialisation and ensure regional heads no longer recruit new staff and everything is adjusted to the stages agreed upon based on today’s meeting,” said Bima Arya.
