Good News for Prabowo: Legal Aid Posts Save State Rp1.2 Trillion
The Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, reported on his department’s performance to President Prabowo Subianto during a limited meeting at the State Palace on Tuesday (29/09/2026). A key highlight of the report was the implementation of legal aid posts (posbankum).
Supratman stated that there are currently 83,960 legal aid posts distributed across villages and sub-districts throughout Indonesia. “I am reporting to the President that approximately 83,960 legal aid posts have been established across all villages and sub-districts in Indonesia,” Supratman said following the meeting.
Supratman noted that the presence of these legal aid posts has assisted in resolving various legal issues faced by the community. Out of 16,000 cases reported to the legal aid posts, 14,000 cases were successfully resolved through a restorative justice approach.
“The result, which I am conveying to the President, is that from the 83,000-plus established legal aid posts, the number of incoming complaints is around 16,000 cases. Of those, 14,000 cases could be resolved through mediation, which would otherwise have proceeded to the judicial process. However, thanks to the existence of the legal aid posts, we can resolve them through restorative justice,” he said.
Through the restorative justice approach, these tens of thousands of cases do not need to be brought to court. According to him, this has enabled the state to save up to Rp1.2 trillion. “With restorative justice, the state can save Rp1.2 trillion from the 14,000 cases we resolved through the mediation mechanism. There are 2,000 cases that will proceed through free legal aid processes, and this is ongoing,” he added.
Supratman revealed that the majority of cases handled by the legal aid posts involve land disputes between neighbours and domestic violence (KDRT). Additionally, many other minor cases are resolved through mediation.
“The most frequent cases in the legal aid posts include land disputes between neighbours, domestic violence, and many minor cases that can actually be resolved through mediation,” he said.
Suprament also noted that during the meeting, he was requested to coordinate with the Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN) Suyudi Ario Seto, the Head of BRIN Arif Satria, and relevant ministers regarding the rehabilitation of drug convicts in prisons. “As prisons are currently over capacity, we will hold a joint meeting in the near future to formulate a policy to be adopted by the government,” he concluded.
