Gonzaga Entrepreneur Community Strengthens National MSME Ecosystem
The Gonzaga Entrepreneur Community (KWG) officially inaugurated its new leadership for the 2026–2029 period at Dapoer Balekambang, South Jakarta, on Saturday (13/6/2026). Eddy Sambuaga has been entrusted as Chairman to lead the organisation, which focuses on developing entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation among alumni of SMA Kolese Gonzaga. The inauguration marks a new chapter for KWG, which was formally established in 2016. Under the new leadership, the organisation has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the national entrepreneurship ecosystem through cross-sector collaboration involving the government, the business world, educational institutions, and other communities. KWG Chairman Eddy Sambuaga highlighted that Indonesia still faces a significant challenge in increasing the number of entrepreneurs. According to data from the Ministry of MSMEs, the national entrepreneurship ratio in 2025 only reached 3.29 percent, well below the average of developed countries, which exceeds 10 percent. ‘The national entrepreneurship ratio, which is still below that of developed countries, is a shared challenge we must address. KWG is ready to take concrete action through measurable programmes and tangible partnerships to support the Government’s agenda in strengthening the people’s economy and MSMEs,’ Eddy stated on Sunday (14/6/2026). Beyond expanding external partnerships, Eddy emphasised that KWG will continue to be optimised as a platform for collaboration and business networking among alumni. KWG is also committed to driving organisational regeneration by involving more young alumni to remain relevant in facing future economic challenges. Support for the new leadership was also conveyed by the Gonzaga College Alumni Association (IKA GONA). IKA GONA Chairman Ariston Herwindo stated that KWG plays a strategic role in nurturing new entrepreneurs while strengthening existing business actors operating on a larger scale. Ariston added that building a sustainable business requires not just technical skills, but primarily character and discipline. ‘For an entrepreneur, skills can be trained. However, the most important things are discipline and attitude. These character values have been instilled by Gonzaga from the very beginning,’ Ariston said. On the same occasion, the Principal of SMA Kolese Gonzaga Jakarta, Father Eduard C. Ratu Dopo, S.J., M.Ed., stressed the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial spirit early in the educational environment. He explained that the school is continuously developing learning approaches that encourage students to understand the concepts of leadership, innovation, and the basics of business and entrepreneurship. As a community rooted in its alumni network, KWG views strengthening the entrepreneurship sector as a strategic step in supporting the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision, particularly in terms of job creation, MSME development, and improving the quality of human resources.
