Golkar's 'people market'
JAKARTA (JP): A bazaar that promises to sell goods at unbeatable prices will be opened at Senayan's huge east parking lot beginning today, courtesy of Golkar.
"Given that this is for the people, prices of the commodities will also be affordable to the people. They will definitely be lower than in other places," Warno Hardjo, coordinator at Golkar's economic department told Antara Friday.
The bazaar, which is jointly coordinated with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be opened by Golkar Chairman Harmoko.
There will be more than 500 stands selling goods ranging from basic commodities such as rice, sugar, cooking oil and kerosene to food, beverages, clothes, and handicrafts.
The Senayan bazaar will continue to Feb. 9. Similar arrangements will be held in other provincial and regency towns across the country between now and May, he said.
The organizers have invited the Al Azhar Moslem school in Jakarta to send its marching band. In addition, there will be performances of dangdut and qasidah traditional music to entertain shoppers. A group of street singers have also been recruited to create a fiesta atmosphere. (13)
