Golkar Withdraws from Bali TRAP Special Committee, Council Speaker Responds

The Speaker of the Bali Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Dewa Made Mahayadnya, also known as Dewa Jack, has given a diplomatic response following the Golkar Party faction’s decision to withdraw all its members from the Special Committee on Spatial Planning, Assets, and Permitting (Pansus TRAP). Golkar justified the withdrawal by claiming the committee’s duties had already concluded after the submission of its work report during a plenary session.

Dewa Jack stated that differences in interpretation regarding the rules and procedures of the special committee are normal. “Differences in interpretation of the rules of procedure we have are common, and it actually shows that all council members are starting to care deeply. It can be said that accountability and the rules of the game in this DPRD are beginning to be mutually understood,” he said when met at the Bali DPRD office on Monday (20/7/2026).

Dewa Jack respects the political stance and decisions of every faction in the Bali DPRD. The PDIP politician explained that differing opinions among factions often occur during internal council meetings. “It’s just that this time it has surfaced a little. Those who view that there are still technical matters to be resolved believe the committee’s term should continue until it ends,” he said.

Dewa Jack admitted that he has not yet received an official letter regarding the withdrawal of Golkar members from the Pansus TRAP. He added that the DPRD will soon hold a meeting with all faction leaders. “We will sit down together, reopen the documents on our rules of procedure, and find the wisest meeting point through deliberation and consensus,” the Buleleng politician stated. He stressed that this controversy will not disrupt the performance of the Pansus TRAP or services to the public, confirming that the committee remains active until its official decree expires on 6 October 2026.

Previously, the Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Bali Regional Leadership Council (DPD), Gde Sumarjaya Linggih, explained that his party withdrew its members because the Pansus TRAP’s work was considered finished. “The report at the plenary session was considered only a recommendation, not a report. There is no such term as a recommendation in a report. During my time in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), a special committee usually ends after the report is submitted,” Demer said on Saturday (19/7).
