The Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives and member of Commission VI, Sarmuji, has conveyed profound condolences over the train accident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi. Sarmuji is urging a thorough investigation into the incident.

“The Golkar Party Faction in the DPR RI urges all relevant parties to act swiftly, transparently, and accountably in handling the impacts of this accident and in thoroughly investigating its causes,” Sarmuji told reporters on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Sarmuji also emphasised the importance of a comprehensive evaluation of the national railway transportation safety system to ensure such incidents do not recur.

“This event must serve as an important lesson. A total evaluation of the operational system, safety management, and oversight must be conducted immediately to prevent similar occurrences,” Sarmuji stated.

The Golkar Secretary General expressed full support for all victims and hoped they would receive the best possible care.

“We extend our sincere sympathy and support to the victims. Their safety and recovery must be the primary concern of all parties,” he said.

Sarmuji stated that the government must be maximally present in providing assistance to the victims and affected families, including medical treatment and compensation.

“The government must ensure that all victims and their families receive maximum and comprehensive assistance,” he added.

The accident occurred on Monday night (27/4), resulting in 15 fatalities. Additionally, dozens of people were injured.

The collision happened when the KRL that was struck was stationary due to another KRL being stuck at a taxi crossing at Bekasi Timur Station. The severe impact caused the women’s carriage at the rear to be torn open and penetrated by the Argo Bromo train.

The evacuation of the accident victims has been completed. All evacuated victims were female.

The identification of the bodies has also been completed by the Police Hospital. The bodies were then handed over to the respective families of the victims.
