Golkar Urges Indonesia to Reconsider Position in Board of Peace After Three TNI Soldiers Fall
Jakarta - Golkar Party Deputy General Chairman Ahmad Doli Kurnia has urged the government of President Prabowo Subianto to reconsider Indonesia’s position in the Board of Peace (BoP) after three TNI soldiers serving with UNIFIL were killed in an Israeli attack in Lebanon.
“We urge the government to rethink Indonesia’s presence in the BoP. Israel’s attack on TNI soldiers is a clear mockery of the word ‘peace’ that is a core value in the BoP,” Doli stated in his remarks on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
This is because, at the same time, a country that is a BoP member is committing genocide and campaigning violence everywhere.
“This incident must serve as an important and valuable lesson for this nation. We must unite and support the Indonesian government in taking firmer steps and positions against any party that commits violence and violations of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions,” he explained.
Based on data, throughout 2025, Israel recorded more than 8,300 attacks on Palestine.
“The main violations include genocide, illegal occupation, illegal settlement construction, attacks on civilians/hospitals, and excessive use of force,” Doli stated.
“Seeing all these violations, as a sovereign nation, we must strongly condemn such actions because they injure humanitarian values. Moreover, with TNI casualties, this should be the basis for increasing our pressure,” he added.
Because, he said, this crisis not only has economic impacts but also results in loss of life among TNI personnel.
“The state must give high recognition to the late fallen soldiers in their duty. In addition, the government must guarantee the future of the victims’ children, especially their education,” Doli added.
As many as eight Indonesian National Army (TNI) soldiers became casualties in southern Lebanon, based on the latest data from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait explained that the security situation in the assignment area has escalated in recent days.
“On 29 March 2026, one TNI soldier fell and several others were injured due to the impact of the conflict in the operational area,” Rico said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
In that incident, in addition to one soldier falling, another suffered serious injuries, and two others had minor injuries.
The next incident occurred a day later, where two TNI soldiers fell amid the escalation of conflict in the area between Lebanon and Israel.
“In that incident (on 30 March 2026), two TNI soldiers were reported to have fallen, while two other soldiers suffered serious injuries,” he added.
Thus, over two days, eight TNI soldiers became casualties of the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
