Golkar Urges Cadres Not to Be Provoked by Nus Kei Stabbing Case
Secretary General of the Golkar Party, Muhammad Sarmuji, has confirmed the death of politician Agrapinus Rumatora, alias Nus Kei, who was stabbed by unknown individuals at Karel Sadsuitubun Airport, Maluku, on Sunday, 19 April 2026. Nus Kei was the Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Regional Representative Council for Southeast Maluku.
Sarmuji then urged Golkar cadres to control their emotions and not be ignited by this incident. “To the cadres, remain vigilant but do not get provoked by the situation. We entrust the police apparatus to thoroughly investigate the incident,” said the Golkar Faction Chairman when contacted on Sunday.
Sarmuji stated that Golkar is deeply saddened and angry about the stabbing that caused Nus Kei’s death. He extended condolences to the family of the deceased and all members of the Maluku Regional Leadership Council.
To date, the motive for the murder of Nus Kei remains unknown. Sarmuji entrusts the police to uncover the motive and background of the stabbing of the deceased. “We demand that the police apparatus thoroughly investigate the incident.”
The Southeast Maluku Police Resort arrested two individuals suspected of stabbing Nus Kei at the exit of Karel Sadsuitubun Airport. The Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner Rositah Umasugi, stated that the arrests were made two hours after the incident. “Both are initialled HR (28) and FU (36),” said Rositah, revealing the identities of the suspected perpetrators as quoted from Antara.
She explained that the perpetrators stabbed the victim with a knife around 11:25 WIT, right at the airport exit when the victim had just arrived from Jakarta. The suspected perpetrators immediately fled after the incident.
Currently, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Southeast Maluku Police Resort are still probing the motive for the murder. The Maluku Regional Police assure that developments in handling the case will be communicated periodically to the public.
