Golkar to host int'l seminar

JAKARTA: Golkar Party will host an international seminar on prosperity and democratization here on Saturday, as part of its 41st anniversary celebrations.

The seminar will involve delegates of ruling parties from ASEAN member states, China, Japan, South Korea, India and South Africa.

Organizing committee chairman Agus R. Kartasasmita said the seminar would feature delegates from China's Communist Party, India's Congress Party and Singapore's People's Action Party, who would share their experiences in attracting foreign investment.

"China is the first destination of foreign investors and India is second, while Singapore has been successful in luring foreign tourists. We need to learn from their successes," he said here on Wednesday.

Agus said Golkar's anniversary celebrations would be highlighted by a rally at Senayan Stadium on Saturday evening, with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono scheduled to attend.

The festivities will also include two soccer friendlies, between Aceh's Persiraja and Papua's Persipura, and between Indonesia and South Africa, which are scheduled for Sunday evening. --JP
