Golkar to dismiss Kalla: Party advisor

MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: A senior advisor of the Golkar Party disclosed on Friday that Jusuf Kalla, the running mate of Gen. (ret) Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, would soon be dismissed from the major party for shifting his allegiance.

Instead of making his bid for the presidential or vice presidential seats through Golkar's convention, party member Kalla had opted to become running mate to Susilo of the Democratic Party.

The dismissal will be made official during the party's national congress in October this year, said Achmad Arnold Baramuli, a member of Golkar's advisory board. -- JP
