Golkar: Suyudi is the Right Figure to Lead the National Police
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Secretary General of the Golkar Party, Sarmuji, stated that Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto is the right figure to lead the Indonesian National Police (Polri), given his proven track record.
“Commissioner General Suyudi is the right figure to lead Polri in the future. In accordance with the Police Law, the Chief of National Police is appointed by the President with the approval of the House of Representatives (DPR), and the DPR has provided its approval today,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to him, Suyudi possesses a comprehensive track record, ranging from training in the fields of criminal investigation and inquiry, leading several regional units, serving as the Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Regional Police and Chief of Banten Regional Police, to being entrusted to lead the National Narcotics Board (BNN) since August 2025.
“Commissioner General Suyudi is not only a reliable investigator but also a firm internal leader. During his tenure as the Chief of Banten Regional Police, he did not hesitate to take strict action against members suspected of being unprofessional in serving public reports. This kind of firmness is exactly what Polri needs,” he said.
He also assessed that Suyudi’s leadership at the BNN proves his ability to tackle transnational crime.
He highlighted the BNN’s success in capturing international fugitives suspected of being the main actors in the smuggling of approximately two tonnes of methamphetamine, through cross-border and inter-agency cooperation in Cambodia.
“That is a significant achievement. Even major drug lords hiding abroad can be reached. This experience will serve as valuable capital for Polri in combating drugs and transnational crime,” he said.
Sarmuji is optimistic that under Suyudi’s leadership, Polri will continue to improve.
In addition, Sarmuji expressed his gratitude for the dedication of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in leading Polri since 2021.
“We thank General Listyo for his dedication. Now is the time for Polri to enter a new chapter with Commissioner General Suyudi, while maintaining neutrality, solidarity, and synergy with the TNI and all elements of the nation,” he concluded.
