Golkar Suspends Therensius Lazakar Over Intimidation of Dr Icha
A member of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) from the Golkar Party faction, Agustinus Nahak, has stated that North Central Timor (TTU) Regency DPRD member Therensius Lazakar of the Golkar faction has been suspended from his position. The suspension relates to alleged intimidation against Dr Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Dr Icha. “For now, he has been suspended. He has been inactive since last week. In fact, when I checked this morning, he was no longer coming to the office. The party itself carried out the suspension,” said Agustinus Nahak, Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the NTT DPRD from the Golkar faction, after receiving a group of healthcare workers protesting in front of the NTT DPRD building on Thursday (9/7/2026). The Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the NTT DPRD also explained that Therensius Lazakar is currently undergoing a legal process, making it necessary to suspend him so as not to disrupt the proceedings. He explained that the Golkar Party will take further steps based on the results of the ethics hearing being handled by the TTU DPRD’s Honorary Board (BK). “The party is just waiting for the official report from the BK. Once the BK report is available, we will act,” he stressed. He also expressed his support for the NTT Regional Police (Polda NTT) to thoroughly investigate the alleged intimidation against Dr Icha, who died by suicide. “It is already difficult to get doctors to come to NTT. Especially with a case like this, therefore we demand the maximum legal penalty. The main thing is to investigate the process of her death. We oppose this,” he concluded. Meanwhile, TTU DPRD member Norbertus Tubani from the National Awakening Party (PKB), who is also suspected of intimidating Dr Icha, has not yet been suspended. This is because the party is still awaiting the decision from the PKB’s central party tribunal. “The Central Executive Board (DPP) has taken a stance, but the PKB has its own party tribunal, so the process in the party tribunal has its own mechanism,” said Ana Waha Kolin, an NTT DPRD member from the PKB faction. Ana also urged all parties to be patient. She explained that the NTT DPRD will soon hold a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the NTT Police Chief to ascertain the exact handling of this case. “Let us just wait, but the swift step this institution will take is a Hearing Meeting with the Police Chief in the near future,” Ana concluded.
