Level crossings have long been a concern for us. Resolving thousands of high-risk points across Indonesia is an urgent matter that cannot be delayed any longer,” said Hamka to reporters on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Factors such as road users’ lack of discipline and minimal security systems at several points are considered the main triggers of accidents. Due to this, the government is urged to promptly install adequate signage and accelerate the construction of flyovers and underpasses to reduce level crossings.

“This is a collective homework. Public safety cannot be compromised,” he said.

This Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Faction in the DPR demands a thorough and objective investigation. He wants the cause of the fatal collision between the KA Argo Bromo and KRL at Bekasi Timur Station to be investigated transparently.

“The investigation must be conducted comprehensively so that we can clearly identify the root problems and prevent similar incidents from recurring,” he stated.

It is known that the number of victims from the train accident involving KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station has increased to 15 people. Evacuation of the victims involved several parties, including Basarnas.

Regarding the chronology of the incident, it began with a Green SM taxi that had stopped in the middle of the railway tracks not far from Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night. The taxi was then hit by a KRL travelling from Cikarang towards Jakarta.

The KRL involved in the accident with the taxi then stopped in the middle of the tracks. Local residents gathered to help evacuate the taxi.

On the other hand, a KRL heading towards Cikarang was stopped longer at Bekasi Timur Station due to the incident between the KRL heading to Jakarta and the Green SM taxi. It was this KRL stopped at Bekasi Timur Station that was subsequently hit by the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek travelling from Jakarta.
