Golkar Secretary-General Sarmuji Launches Book “Power That Helps” Containing His Political Views
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Secretary-General of the Golkar Party’s Central Executive Board, Muhammad Sarmuji, has launched a book titled “Power That Helps,” which contains his views on politics and his personal experiences.
Sarmuji stated that the book is part of three books he has published, with two being the main works, including “Power That Helps.”
“Yes, I have published two books, plus one memoir book, and those two are the main ones, one of which is ‘Power That Helps’,” said Sarmuji at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (20/4/2026).
According to him, the title serves as a reminder in navigating politics so that power can be used to help society.
“I named it that as a reminder because at that time I had entered the world of politics and hoped that my presence could provide benefits,” he said.
“But it turned out that God had other plans; our son was called back due to leukaemia. But the name remains stored in my heart and continues to be a reminder for me. To make politics become Sulthanan Nashira, to become a Power or Power That Helps,” he revealed.
In the book, Sarmuji writes his views on politics as a means to help society while also including responses to various issues developing in the DPR.
“The first chapter explains politics as Power That Helps. Then the following chapters are about my statements responding to developing situations. People’s issues developing in the DPR and some issues that we responded to as the secretary-general (of the Golkar Party’s Central Executive Board),” he said.
“The closing is that we hope to become politicians like the prayer of Prophet Ibrahim. The prayer of Prophet Ibrahim is, ‘O Allah, make me “waj’allii lisana shidqi fiil akhiriin”’,” he stated.
“That is in the closing chapter. ‘Make me become a good speaker for the generations that come later’,” he added.
In the final part, Sarmuji expressed his hope that his political career can be remembered well by the next generation.
