Golkar Secretary-General Launches Book Carrying the Spirit of Politics to Help the People

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Secretary-General of the Golkar Party’s Central Executive Board, Muhammad Sarmuji, launched a book titled “The Power That Helps,” carrying the spirit of politics to assist the people. At the book launch event in the parliamentary complex, Jakarta, on Monday, Sarmuji explained that the political line he espouses views power not as an end in itself, but as a means to serve and help society. He stated that the book was inspired by the name of his late son. “The Power That Helps” is actually a translation of Sulthanan Nashira, the name of our son, Muhammad Sutojoyo Sulthanan Nashir,” said Sarmuji. The Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives revealed that the book is one of three he has published, with two being his main works, including “The Power That Helps.” Sarmuji said that his son’s name has been a reminder for him from the start in navigating the world of politics. He hopes that his presence in politics can become a force that brings benefits. Sarmuji revealed that his son passed away after battling leukaemia in 2024. Nevertheless, the values and meaning of that name remain a guiding principle in his life. He explained that the early parts of the book emphasise power that sides with public interests. Meanwhile, the subsequent chapters contain his responses and views on various people’s issues developing in the DPR. “Then the following chapters are about my statements responding to emerging situations. People’s issues developing in the DPR and some issues we addressed as the secretary-general (of the Golkar Party’s Central Executive Board),” he said. According to him, the book launch event is also dedicated to all parents who have lost their children. When he lost his son, Sarmuji admitted he had no time to grieve. “We and everyone have experienced loss. We lost our son who fought against leukaemia to the last drop of blood. We have exhausted all efforts, but fate led him home,” he said.
