Golkar Responds to Viral Song 'MBG: Handsome Bahlil'

Netizens have recently been abuzz over the song ‘My Little Bolu Ketan’ on social media. The song is directed at Energy and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, who is also the General Chairperson of Golkar Party. ‘MBG: Mas Bahlil Ganteng, what fruit is the sweetest? Bolu, just get more handsome, my little bolu ketan…’ This is an excerpt from the lyrics that went viral on Instagram and TikTok. It is understood that the lyrics were compiled from various netizens’ comments on social media. The absurd song has since been widely used as background music in numerous posts. Golkar’s Secretary-General, Muhammad Sarmuji, commented on the viral song targeting Bahlil. Sarmuji stated that the party does not take issue with the song, considering it entertaining. ‘The song is quite cute and entertaining. If the people are happy, Golkar is happy. No problem. If others are happy, we are happy,’ Sarmuji told reporters on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, as reported by detikNews. Sarmuji viewed the song as netizen creativity, claiming the public appreciates Bahlil’s efforts in securing fuel stocks amid global energy uncertainties. ‘That’s just netizen creativity, appreciating Mr Bahlil’s hard work in securing fuel stocks amid global energy volatility and preventing subsidized fuel price hikes,’ he added. Sarmuji noted that much of Golkar Chairman’s work remains unpublicised, citing achievements such as lifting rates, rural electrification, and community oil wells. ‘There are many unpublicised achievements by Mr Bahlil, including lifting rates, village electricity reaching remote areas, community oil wells, and more,’ Sarmuji said.
