Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Vice Chairman of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnlaria Tandjung, has responded to allegations by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the ‘trusted associates’ of Nusron Wahid in a suspected bribery case within the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

Met at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, he emphasised that the allegations are currently only preliminary information. Therefore, his party respects and awaits the progress of the ongoing legal process at the KPK.

“Once again, I say that we fully entrust this process to the KPK. We believe that the KPK is an independent and credible institution to resolve this,” said Ahmad Doli.

He stated that Indonesia is a state governed by law, so any allegations regarding legal violations must be proven based on the applicable laws and regulations.

“We shall see the subsequent developments. It was mentioned that there are four individuals referred to as ‘trusted associates’; well, sometimes those trusted associates do not necessarily act on behalf of the person who granted the trust,” he remarked.

Doli admitted that he has not yet communicated directly with the Golkar Party’s DPP Chairman for Religious and Spiritual Affairs. According to him, the party has also not yet coordinated with Nusron.

He expressed hope that Nusron Wahid would soon provide a clarification to the public.

“Well, if Mr Nusron feels he is not involved, has done nothing, and has no connection whatsoever to the individuals mentioned, I think he should just provide a clarification. Convey the truth to the public,” he said.

The four individuals identified are the former Regent of Kebumen, Arif Sugiyanto (ARF); Golkar Party DPP Chairman for Mass Organisation Relations, Fahd El Fouz, also known as Fahd Arafiq (FEZ); Erwin (ERW); and Muhammad Fakhry (MF).

The case is currently being investigated by the anti-corruption commission. Regarding the potential summoning of Nusron Wahid, the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, explained that it would depend on the investigators’ needs.
