Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, Ace Hasan Syadzily, has expressed appreciation for the government’s appeal to state officials to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 2026 in a simple manner. According to the Governor of the National Resilience Institute, the government is considering the still turbulent geopolitical conditions due to the Israel-United States war against Iran.

Ace emphasised that the government’s appeal is highly relevant because the month of Ramadan is interpreted as a means of training to control oneself. “The government’s appeal is very positive amid the geopolitical situation that impacts our domestic conditions,” he said at the Central Executive Board of Golkar office in West Jakarta on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

Ace stated that celebrating the beginning of the month of Syawal 1447 Hijriah without ostentation will not diminish the essence of the fitri day. Indeed, said Ace, it will not sever social ties. Instead, Ace views a simple celebration as an example for the public to do the same.

He also interprets Eid 2026 as a momentum to enhance social awareness and encourage national productivity towards Golden Indonesia 2045. “We certainly hope that the public is encouraged to be more efficient and to practise more savings. And of course, to prioritise national interests,” he said.

A few days before Eid, President Prabowo Subianto urged his subordinates to celebrate Eid al-Fitr simply. He asked officials not to be excessive if holding griya gatherings or open houses.

The President stated that Indonesia currently needs to economise, starting from its officials. “We must also set an example; open houses should not be too lavish,” said Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.

The President emphasised that although festive activities are important to keep the economy running, excessive luxury is inappropriate, especially when many people are still affected by natural disasters. “Events are still necessary so that the economy runs, but do not completely close all activities,” he explained.

Following the President’s directive, on 16 March 2026, the Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi issued a circular regarding provisions for open houses for officials. The circular numbered B-40/M/S/HL.OO/03/2026 was addressed to ministers who are cabinet members, the Attorney General, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, and leaders of government institutions.

This circular reminds that there are still areas affected by natural disasters in various parts of the country. Therefore, the President through the Ministry of State Secretariat appeals for open house or halal bihalal activities to provide direct benefits to the community, such as through social activities.
