Golkar Reprimands Cadres Over Shameful Brawl in Riau Council
Golkar Party Deputy Chairman Ahmad Doli Kurnia has strongly condemned a brawl between two party cadres within the Riau Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), calling the incident ‘embarrassing’. Doli stated that as public representatives, the members should set a good example and resolve issues rationally through dialogue, not with emotion or physical violence. The altercation reportedly began when Commission V Chairman Indra Gunawan Eet cornered Deputy Speaker Parisman Ikhwan during a budget meeting, provoking a physical response. Doli emphasised that fellow party members should protect each other’s reputations and the dignity of Golkar, rather than clashing in public. He has urged the Riau Golkar leadership to immediately summon and discipline the two individuals to prevent the conflict from escalating further. Doli also issued a formal apology to the people of Riau on behalf of the party for the disgraceful incident. According to eyewitnesses, the brawl erupted suddenly after the Budget Committee meeting, with objects being thrown and punches exchanged between the two factions.
