Golkar recalls 8 councillors
MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: Golkar has recalled eight of its members on the provincial legislative council for alleged disciplinary offenses.
"With regret ... we have to dismiss our colleagues in the council's Golkar faction and replace them with new figures as they have strayed from the party's standing orders," deputy leader of Golkar's West Nusa Tenggara chapter Lalu Puguh Wirebhakti said on Monday.
He said the decision to recall the eight councillors, including Sunardi Ayub, Syaiful Islam and Lale Suryatni Marzuki, was issued on Jan. 24, 2005.
The move follows the election of Sunardi as council head, although he was not nominated by the Golkar provincial executive board.
Golkar had supported Lalu Sujirman for the council's top post, but 12 of the party's 15 councillors instead nominated and voted for Sunardi in the election.
Lalu Puguh said that, apart from the eight councillors, four others would also be recalled from the council for similar offenses. --JP
