Golkar Questions What PDIP Is Balancing Outside the Government

Golkar Party Secretary-General Muhammad Sarmuji has commented on PDIP’s political position, which was recently highlighted by PKB. Sarmuji believes the public can judge PDIP’s political stance, which it describes as a balancing force outside the government.

“It is entirely up to PDIP. But reading the comments of several PDIP figures, they position themselves as a balancer. We respect PDIP’s position as a balancer,” Sarmuji told reporters on Friday (19/6/2026).

Sarmuji noted that PDIP has not joined the government of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. However, he also questioned the balancing role claimed by PDIP.

“What is clear is that until now PDIP has not entered the government. The practice of balancing is another matter. So far, what exactly is being balanced? The people will judge later,” he said.

“The term ‘balancer’ itself can actually already be understood by those willing to read it. There is no need to force clarity. Let us just respect it,” he added.

Previously, PKB faction chairman in the DPR, Jazilul Fawaid, urged PDIP to take a firm stance regarding its position towards President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. Jazilul said an unclear attitude could create a confusing impression.

“I hope they will just take a firm stance. If they are in the opposition, be the opposition. Do not be ambiguous. Because we are all fighting hard to realise what the President promised. All the programmes have been arranged,” Jazilul said at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6). Jazilul was responding to reporters’ questions about the alleged participation of Andi Widjajanto in a protest several days ago.

Meanwhile, PDIP DPP chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira responded to Jazilul’s statement asking PDIP to clarify its position towards the Prabowo government. Andreas asserted that his party is a balancing party outside the government.

“A balancing party outside the government,” Andreas told reporters on Friday (19/6).

“That is a party congress decision,” he continued.
