Deputy Chairman of Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, is pushing for the revision of the Election Law to be discussed immediately. According to Doli, the discussion of the Election Law Bill needs to be addressed promptly so that the DPR and the government have sufficient time.

“Because this is a major law, an important law concerning the future of political development, the future of Indonesia, related to the conduct of government, we must have seriousness in discussing this. One form of seriousness is that we must have enough time to discuss it,” said Doli to reporters in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, on Monday (27/4/2026).

Doli hopes that the discussion of the Election Law Bill will be welcomed by the public. He stressed that the discussion of the Election Law Bill should not be covered up.

“If there is pulling and tugging over the substance of the content, that’s fine, in fact, that’s what we expect. Party A proposes a threshold of so much, Party B proposes, for example, an electoral system like this, yes, that is welcomed by the public. That’s what we want to find if we have enough time. Because this is important, the discussion must not be covered up. Just open it,” he said.

Doli also hopes for input from political experts in the process of discussing the Election Law Bill in the future. In this way, an ideal agreement can be produced.

“So, in my opinion, it’s good if, for example, there is a political party that is responded to, proposing this proposal, the proposal is like this, then responded to by observers, responded to by campuses and so on. That’s what we should create so that in the end we can produce, ‘Oh, this is our agreement on the ideal electoral system going forward’,” he said.

Doli also mentioned the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling which requires the Election Law to be revised. He hopes that the electoral system in the future will be better.

“So if we want to see the conduct of government being good, then the institution that produces it, called elections, must also be good. Well, so far we have received many corrections from the Constitutional Court, there are a dozen Constitutional Court rulings that require this law to be revised,” he said.
