Golkar Plans to Increase Legislative Seats in 2029 Election

The Golkar Party plans to increase its legislative seats in the 2029 elections. The party has not yet calculated in detail how many seats it can add.

“Actually, our target is indeed to add seats. How many exactly we haven’t calculated in detail,” said Golkar Party Secretary-General Muhammad Sarmuji at the DPP Golkar office in Slipi, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Sarmuji stated that Golkar will conduct an analysis of electoral districts (dapil). This dapil analysis will later reveal how Golkar can increase its legislative seats.

“We will later conduct a dapil analysis, we will look at each dapil to see if there is a possibility to increase seats and how to do so will be calculated in detail through the dapil analysis. So we can’t calculate it now, because the organisational consolidation process is only at the provincial stage,” he said.

Sarmuji mentioned that all Golkar regional officials will hold regional congresses (musda) this month. These congresses cover the provincial level and the regency/city level.

“Insyaallah, this month all our provinces will complete the regional congresses across Indonesia. After the provinces, it will be followed by the regencies. Currently, provinces that have held musda are directly followed by musda at the regency/city level,” he said.
