Golkar Party Leader in Southeast Maluku Stabbed to Death: Party Urges Cadres Not to Be Provoked
JAKARTA - Golkar Party Secretary General Sarmuji has urged party cadres to remain vigilant and not be provoked following the death of the Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Southeast Maluku branch, Agrapinus Rumatora, known as Nus Kei, who was stabbed to death.
Sarmuji stated that Golkar is requesting the police to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding Nus Kei’s death.
“To our cadres, remain vigilant, but do not get drawn into the situation. We entrust the police to fully investigate the incident,” Sarmuji said on Sunday (19/4/2026).
Sarmuji noted that Golkar is grieving, saddened, and angry over Nus Kei’s death.
However, he urged all cadres not to be provoked by the incident.
Sarmuji also heard reports that the perpetrators who stabbed Nus Kei have been arrested.
“The motive is still being investigated by the police. I am not yet clear on who they are or the motive,” he said.
Nus Kei died after being attacked by two men while heading towards the airport exit.
Head of Public Relations for Maluku Provincial Police, Senior Commissioner Rositah Umasugi, said the incident occurred after the victim had just arrived at the airport from Jakarta.
“The incident took place in the exit area of Karel Sadsuitubun Airport. The victim, who had just arrived from Jakarta by plane, was attacked by unknown individuals using sharp weapons,” Rositah told reporters on Sunday afternoon.
Rositah added that as a result of the attack, the victim sustained serious injuries to his body.
The victim was rushed to the local hospital for treatment, but his life could not be saved.
Police have arrived at the scene and are examining several witnesses to investigate the incident.
