Golkar on Groups Unwilling to Cooperate: The President Has Sufficient Information
President Prabowo Subianto once mentioned the existence of groups that do not wish to be involved in cooperating to build the nation. The Golkar Party is confident that Prabowo knows who these groups are. “It may well be (that there are groups unwilling to cooperate), the President certainly has sufficient information before conveying it to the public,” said Golkar’s Secretary General M Sarmuji when contacted on Thursday (9/4/2026). Nevertheless, Sarmuji interprets Prabowo’s main intent not as cornering those groups, but as an invitation to work together. “I take it as a kind of invitation for us to jointly build the country,” he said. Furthermore, Sarmuji believes this indicates Prabowo’s desire for unity. “It also indicates the spirit of national unity that is the soul of President Prabowo,” he added. Prabowo’s Statement President Prabowo Subianto alluded to the phenomenon of groups unwilling to cooperate with the government, yet still actively voicing criticisms. Prabowo stressed that the government continues to operate and focuses on serving the people despite facing criticism. In his address, Prabowo said he has studied reports from his subordinates showing that the current national condition remains relatively safe and stable. Although, the geopolitical situation in the Middle East is heating up. “I have studied the data and figures, and this is a good opportunity; after studying the figures and receiving reports from my ministers, it turns out our condition is quite safe,” said Prabowo when giving directions at the Government Working Meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4). Prabowo then alluded to the emergence of criticisms from certain groups against his government. Prabowo said he has no issue if certain groups do not want to cooperate with the government. “Indeed, there is one phenomenon that we all feel, that there are groups in society, our brothers and sisters too, the extended family of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia as well, who have an attitude that can be said to be very unwilling to cooperate. We respect it, we have no problem,” he stated.
