Golkar on East Kalimantan Demo: Rudy Mas'ud Not Anti-Dialogue
Golkar deputy chairman Ahmad Doli Kurnia has responded to the demonstration by the East Kalimantan People’s Alliance, which is demanding an audit of all policies of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government. Doli stated that his party always reminds the importance of listening to the people’s aspirations.
“We formally and informally often engage in communication and coordination. The message we frequently convey is that as a regional head, one must always stay close to the people and listen to their aspirations, run the government well by fulfilling the principles of good governance and clean government,” Doli told reporters on Thursday (23/4/2026).
“Avoid making policies and government practices that are outside the rules, build a merit system, and do not engage in corruption,” he added.
Nevertheless, Doli believes that problems should be resolved through dialogue. Doli said that every issue should be settled through good communication.
“I think it would be far better to resolve every problem through dialogue, especially problems concerning the interests of the people, the nation, and the state, including at the regional level,” Doli said.
He claimed to know East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas’ud as a figure who is open and not anti-dialogue. Therefore, Doli is confident that public aspirations, including those from students, can be conveyed in a good manner.
“I know Brother Rudy well. He is low-profile, sociable, and not anti-dialogue,” he revealed.
“I am sure he is willing to talk properly with anyone, including the student brothers and sisters, if there are aspirations to be conveyed. I believe that unrest may not necessarily solve problems. It might even create new issues,” he added.
Previously, members of the East Kalimantan People’s Alliance held the 21 April Action at the East Kalimantan DPRD building and the Governor’s Office. The action, which demanded an audit of all East Kalimantan Provincial Government policies, was marked by various dynamics.
Waves of crowds from various student and community elements began arriving to fill the area in front of the East Kalimantan DPRD office since Tuesday morning (21/4/2026). The crowd initially started the action at the East Kalimantan DPRD building with students climbing a large billboard to remove a banner featuring the Chairman and members of the East Kalimantan DPRD.
Response from the East Kalimantan Governor
East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas’ud finally responded to the action via a video on his personal Instagram account and the Provincial Government’s account. Rudy expressed his appreciation for the action that has taken place. He also asked all elements to remain as social control over government performance.
“We thank all parties, the student brothers and sisters, community layers, TNI, and Police who maintained security, creating a conducive situation until the end of the aspiration delivery in Bumi Etam,” Rudy said as seen in the video viewed by detikKalimantan on Wednesday (22/4).
