Golkar Member Caught in Third Corruption Case, Bahlil: This is a Misfortune, We Cannot Control Everyone Individually
The Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, has spoken out regarding party member Fahd A Rafiq, who has been implicated in corruption cases on three separate occasions. Bahlil admitted to being shaken by the corruption case involving one of his members.
“We consider this a misfortune and we feel shaken. However, we at Golkar will look forward. This is a misfortune that, of course, no one wants,” Bahlil told reporters at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, 17 September 2026.
Bahlil added that the Golkar Party will always look towards the future, as Golkar is an experienced party with a vast number of members. Consequently, Bahlil admitted that the party cannot monitor every single member individually.
“As an experienced party with many members, we simply cannot control everyone one by one,” Bahlil said.
On the other hand, Bahlil stated that he respects the entire legal process currently being conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). “The most important thing is that we respect the applicable legal process. We uphold it and let all legal processes be respected properly,” he added.
For information, Fahd El Fouz, also known as Fahd A Rafiq, is facing corruption charges once again. This time, he has been named a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving the management of Building Use Rights (HGB) within the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).
This case marks the third time Fahd has been embroiled in corruption matters. This track record has led the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to ensure that heavier penalties will be sought against Fahd.
“Regarding Mr. FF, it is correct as stated earlier that this is his third time. In criminal law concepts, he is considered a recidivist. Therefore, there will certainly be an aggravation of the sentence,” said the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, as quoted on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
Taufik stated that this aggravation will be part of the prosecution process. However, KPK investigators will first thoroughly unravel the construction of the case and Fahd’s alleged role.
